Bio My life only started becoming interesting when I left England in search of adventure a few years after graduating from university. I made it as far as Thailand, where I still live. I am married to a Thai--the long-suffering Fon--and we have three children, all boys. I hold a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics, and I'm currently enrolled in a doctoral program. If you are looking for a CV, you can find one here. Teaching I teach writing at Mahidol University International College (MUIC), an English-medium college just outside Bangkok. Courses I teach include non-credit intensive writing courses for freshmen, as well as creative writing and introductory linguistics courses for sophomores. I also oversee the English-language part of the entrance examination and placement of the students into ability bands. Research As part of my doctoral studies, I am engaged in research on bilingualism and biculturalism, particularly how bilinguals manage and construct dual identities through selective use of their language resources. I also work in curriculum and course development. Editing I edit academic and commercial material on a freelance basis. Past clients have included the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) and various departments within Mahidol University. Please contact me for more information. Non-fiction I maintain a blog here. I also write occasional articles on language, education, and life in Thailand. Fiction I write short stories and novels. For more information, go here. Consulting I work in the following areas on a contract basis. For more information, please contact me.
